Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has been announced as the
winner of the EA SPORTS Premier League Player of the Month award for April for
the third time this season.
The 32-year-old
beat off competition from Eden Hazard (Chelsea), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool),
Aymeric Laporte (Manchester City), Shane Long (Southampton), Ayoze PĂ©rez
(Newcastle United), Mohammed Salah (Liverpool) and Chris Wood (Burnley) to win
the award.
Vardy scored
five goals for the Foxes during the
month which included braces against Huddersfield Town and Arsenal and a
solitary effort at West Ham United which took his 2018/19 tally to 18.
Vardy also helped Brendan Rodgers’ team secure seven points from
a possible 12 in April.
The Leicester City all-time Premier League top goalscorer is now
on 100 league goals for the club – including his efforts in the Championship.
He has also been
nominated for the PFA Bristol Street Motors Player of the Month award of April
which voting is now closed. The winner will be announced later this month.
“It’s great but
it shows how well the team has been doing over the past month,” said Vardy,
after receiving the prize for the third time.
“I want to be
scoring as many goals as possible but I want to be getting the goals in
victories and that is what we have managed to do over this past month.”
