U17 AFCON: Uganda Beat Angola To Go 2nd In Group A
Uganda recorded their first win of 2019 U17 Africa Cup of Nations tournament defeating hosts Tanzania 3-0 in their second group A game in Dar Es Salaam on Wednesday.
A brace from Kawooya Andrew handed Uganda the lead into the break.
Najib Yoga added a third in the 77th minute to secure a comfortable win for Uganda.
The win moves Uganda to second place in group A with a superior goal difference of +2 ahead of third place Angola.
Tanzania are rock bottom of the group after failing to win a game so far in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Nigeria will certainly finish at the head of Group A if they avoid defeat against Uganda at the same venue in their final group A game on Saturday.
The Golden Eaglets, five –time world champions Nigeria became the first African team to book a 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup ticket after 1-0 defeat of Angola in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday.
Olakunle Olusegun earned the ticket to the tournament semi-finals and to Brazil 2019 when he hooked a 21st minute penalty to the roof of the net with Angola’s goalkeeper Geovani stranded.
