U-17 AFCON 2019: Eaglets Lose To Angola, Finish 4th, Bag World Cup Ticket

U-17 AFCON 2019: Eaglets Lose Bronze Medal To Angola, Finish 4th, Go Home With World Cup Ticket
Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets finished their campaign at the 2019 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations on a disappointing note after they went down to a 2-1 defeat against 10-man Angola in the third-place match at the National Stadium, Dar es-Salaam on Saturday.
Manu Garba’s lads dominated possession in the game, but were once again let down by their profligacy in front of goal.
Wisdom Ubani and Ibraheem Jabaar all wasted good opportunities for the Golden Eaglets early in the game.

They were made to pay for those misses when Andrea Capita put the Angolans ahead from a well-placed header two minutes before the half hour mark.
Capita ran off the back of his marker, and planted a header from David Nzanza’s cross firmly past Sunday Stephen in goal for the Eaglets.
Nigeria responded almost immediately with Ubani firing home the leveller on the half hour mark.
Ubani controlled Olatomi Olaniyan’s cross and poked the ball beyond Angola goalkeeper Emiliano Francisco Cambila.
Zito scored the winning goal for Angola four minutes after the break.
A bursting run through the middle from centre-back Mimo opened up the Golden Eaglets’ defence with Zito firing into the roof of the net from the former’s pass.
Angola were reduced to 10-men in the 58th minute when Abrantes Potrificio was sent off for a second bookable offence.
Despite their numerical advantage, the Golden Eaglets failed to find the equalising goal.
The Golden Eaglets finished fourth the tournament, but have qualified to feature at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup as semi-finalists.
