West Africa rivals, Ghana have been lined up for Nigeria in a friendly
game before the team’s departure for the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt in
June, Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr has revealed.
Speaking shortly after the conclusion of the Nations Cup draw in
Egypt, Rohr said the match will hold in Nigeria while another friendly likely
against Senegal comes up before the start of the competition in the North
Africa country.
Besides revealing
the friendly matches arranged for the team, Rohr also spoke on their chances
against group B opponents, Madagascar, Guinea and Burundi.
‘It is a tough group because Guinea have a very young and
exciting team and Madagascar were the first team to qualify for the AFCON let
us not forget that and Burundi is a very good team, they qualified ahead
of Gabon who had Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and they have this good goal scorer
who finished second behind Odion Ighalo in the top scorers of the qualifiers “,
Rohr said.
To ensure he gets the best from his players, Rohr has assured
that he will be in constant touch to urge them to avoid sustaining injury given
the time frame before the commencement of the tournament.
