Scouts from top European sides, Borussia Dortmund, Marseille, Monaco and Sevilla on
Sunday watched Nigeria forward Henry Onyekuru during the Istanbul derby between
Fenerbahce and Galatasaray.
Onyekuru Henry,
aged 21, is currently on loan with Galatasaray from English Premier League club
Everton until the end of the season.
The versatile
forward scored Galatasaray’s only goal during the 1-1 draw against Fenerbahce
last Sunday.
The goal was his 12th of the campaign for Galatasaray and the
Turkish champions have now closed the gap to five points with leaders Istanbul
Basaksehir going into the final games of the season.
He spent last
season on loan at Anderlecht where his season was blighted by injury which
slowed him down.
The former Eupen
striker has been linked with a move to a number of clubs during his loan spell with
Galatasaray, including German giants Bayern Munich.
However, Everton
have reportedly valued him in the region of €40m following recent claims, which
is likely to put off at least some of the interested clubs.
As long as a
work permit can be secured then a season playing for Everton the actual owner
of the player would appear to make the most sense.
The forward is
expected to be named in Nigeria’s squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in
Egypt where the Super Eagles will be looking to win a fourth continental title.
