Coach of Olympic Eagles, Imama Amapakabo is in
search for more foreign-based players to add to his team, as he aims to build
another ‘Dream Team’ that can take the world by storm.
While Amapakabo already has
confirmation from Taiwo Awoniyi, Orji Okonkwo, Azubuike Okechukwu, Samuel
Chukwueze, Sadiq Umar, Kelechi Nwakali and a handful of others for Wednesday’s
Africa Cup of Nations qualifier away to Libya, he desires more of the foreign
pros.
Consequently, the Super Eagles
assistant coach was recently in England, where he went to monitor some
Nigerian-born players and sound them out on the need to switch allegiance to
Nigeria.
The former Rangers International of
Enugu and El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri handler is not stopping there,
though, as he has also extended his dragnet to Austria, Germany and
Switzerland, with a view to giving as many Nigerian-born players the
opportunity to star for his team.
Amapakabo disclosed: “We need to give everybody eligible
the chance to stake a claim particularly the players born abroad since they
want to play for Nigeria.”
