Super Falcons head coach Thomas
Dennerby has revealed that his employer, the Nigeria Football Federation is at
liberty to sack him of his job if he fails to go beyond the first round of the
Fifa Women’s World Cup billed for France in June.
Speaking to Sportinglife.ng, Dennerby
said his mission is to be the best African team at the world cup as his
performance can only be judged by his employers who have the final say either
to retain him or ask him to go depending on the team’s outcome.
He said the first target is to come
out of the group stage which comprises host nation France, South Korea, and
Norway before thinking of advancing in the competition.
” My first target when I took over
the job as the head coach of the Super Falcons is to qualify team for the world
cup which I achieved. The second target was AWCON which we won and my third
target now is to do well in France which I am working on with the players by
engaging in international friendly matches to adequately expose the team before
the competition begins in June. For me I can’t decide my fate whether to go or
not depending on our outing but my employer because I didn’t engage myself”.
Dennerby said.
Dennerby also stated that for the
world cup in France, he will go with 15 to 16 foriegn base players that are
active and commanding regular shirts in their clubs while the remaining
players will be picked from the domestic league.
