The Super Eagles vice captain, Ahmed Musa would miss Nigeria’s next game
against Egypt in Tuesday’s international friendly as he has returned to his
base in Saudi Arabia.
The Al Nassr forward who failed to rise to the occasion in last
Friday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles at the Stephen
Keshi Stadium in Asaba was not part of the team’s training session which
continued this morning.
Musa however blamed
the pitch for the team’s performance despite winnng 3-1.
Although he won’t
be in action, Musa has promised a better performance from the Eagles against
their North Africa opponents who would also be without inspirational player,
Mohammed Salah.
“We are going to
play an improved game against Egypt. It was a tough game for us against
Seychelles because the pitch is not too good if we compare it with the type of
pitch we use at our various clubs,” Musa told journalists.
“We will lift our
game because we know that this is the final friendly game window before the
preparations for the AFCON will start proper.
William Troost-Ekong will captain the team in Musa’s absence
