Super Eagles forward Odion Ighalo struck in the 52nd minute to
secure his first league goal for Shanghai Shenhua in Sunday’s fixture
against Henan Jianye which they won 2-1 in the Chinese Super League.
It was Shenhua’s
first league victory of the season at the Zhengzhou Hanghai Stadium. after
going 180 minutes without a win
Igahlo who was on international duty for the Super Eagles was
set up by Wang Lei for the opening goal of the match.
Prior to his goal,
Ighalo was issued with a yellow card in the 25th minute of the encounter.
Feng Zhuoyi however
equalised for the home team in the 83rd minute only for Giovanni Morenoto to
score the winning goal for Shenhua with five minutes to end the match.
He was second top
scorer in the Chinese Super League with 21 goals from 28 games during his time
with Changchun Yatai last season.
They had lost their
opening two games of the season against defending champions Shanghai SPIG and
Hebbei CFFC.
