Nigeria’s Olympic team
captain, Azubuike Okechukwu is optimistic they will overturn their 2-0 first
leg deficit suffered away to Libya in last week’s U-23 Africa Cup of Nations
qualifiers.
Azubuike admitted in a chat with the media in Asaba that his
side must create more chances in the final third to stand a chance of advancing
to the group stages of the African U-23 Cup of Nations to hold in Egypt from
8th – 22nd of November this year.
Despite dominating the first leg, Nigeria’s Olympic team failed
to create a goalscoring chance throughout the game according to reports.
“It was a disappointing
performance from us but we will be stronger and better when we play the next
match,” Azubuike told reporters in Asaba.
“We have to play better and create more chances in the final
third. We don’t want to disappoint our fans and hopefully, we will deliver at
home.”
Azubuike is currently on a six months loan at Rizespor from
Pyramid FC in Egypt.
