Chelsea bid £38m for Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly

Chelsea have made an official bid of £38million in their latest attempt to sign Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly from Italian side Napoli, according to Sky Sports. The 25-year-old Teranga Lions player has been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea, where new boss Antonio Conte wants to freshen up an ageing defence. Koulibaly is contracted at the Stadio San Paolo until the end of the 2018/19 season, but his agent Bruno Satin confirmed earlier this week that the player is keen on leaving Napoli and does not want to sign an extension to his current deal.
The former French youth international, who has six caps for Senegal since changing his allegiance, has established himself as one of the best defenders in Italy since joining Napoli from Genk in 2014. Napoli have yet to respond to Chelsea’s bid at the time of writing. Should Koulibaly complete a move to the Blues, he will join N’Golo Kante and Michy Batshuayi as new boys at the London club.
